Enid Blyton also wrote many other famous children's stories such as The Famous Five. Blyton was the eldest child of John and Mary Blyton. Her family moved to Wantage when she was young and she began writing stories for The Idler at age nine. In 1930, her first story was published in The Boys' Treasury. In 1934, the first of her full length novels The Faraway Tree was published, followed by Seven Wishes, The Naughtiest Girl, Bobby's Magic and The Hollybush Girls in 1935. The Famous Five books followed in 1937 with The Secret Seven in 1938, the Famous Five on the Moon in 1938, The Secret of the Seven in 1939 and Five Go Live in 1940. Her last novel was released in 1943, The Mystery of the Missing Hood. Blyton's first successful series was the Malory Towers books, begun in 1941. These were stories about four girls (usually cousins) who attend the Malory Towers boarding school in London. The series ran from 1941 to 1960 and was followed by the Malory Towers series of three books about the same character. In the Malory Towers series, the characters from the earlier Malory Towers books are relocated to a new school, Malory Towers, in 1950. In the late 1960s, Blyton was accused of writing a series of ghost stories, and of plagiarizing parts of the Famous Five books. The allegations were unfounded, and in 1977, her copyright was officially renewed. Blyton died of breast cancer in February 1988. Blyton was born in Wantage, Oxfordshire on the 24th of April, 1904. She attended Wantage Preparatory School and then St Hugh's College, Oxford. Blyton worked as a writer of plays, radio broadcasts, and playscripts. She married John Emery Blyton on the 19th of September, 1936. In March of 1939, the couple separated and the marriage was dissolved in February of 1940. Blyton would later live with Raymond Westropp, a retired civil servant, for the next 28 years. Blyton died
